Bengaluru, Apr 22 (IANS): Karnataka's four state road transport corporations together have suffered a loss of Rs 816 crore amid Covid lockdown, an official said on Wednesday.
"Due to non-operation of bus services, all the four corporations have incurred a revenue loss of Rs 816 crore," said a road transportation corporation spokesperson in a statement.
KSRTC incurred the highest loss, Rs 315 crore, followed by NEKRTC Rs 180 crore, NWKRTC, Rs 172 crore and BMTC Rs 149 crore.
The state's bus services are run by Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC), Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC), North West Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC) and North East Road Transport Corporation (NERTC).
KSRTC caters to 17 southern districts, BMTC caters to Bengaluru, NWKRTC caters to six north western districts and NEKRTC caters to seven northeastern districts.
