Mangalore, Dec 21: The first day of the three-day decennial year celebrations commenced on Friday December 18 on Lourdes Central School grounds by the kindergarten (KG) and primary sections.
The chief guest J Krishna Palemar, minister of ecology, environment, ports and inland water, guest of honour Ivan D’Souza, advocate and notary, Fr Ajit Menezes, assistant parish priest, Bejai and Grace Noronha, principal LCS, were the dignitaries on the dais.
The programme started with invoking God’s blessings through a hymn by the school choir group. The bubbly tiny tots of KG extended a warm welcome to the audience through a song followed by words of welcome by the principal Grace Noronha to the gathering and floral welcome to the dignitaries. Joy Rai, vice-principal gave a brief introduction of the dignitaries.
Palemar placed on records the confidence of the little children. D’Souza expressed his views and appreciation for the school and was certain that such a prestigious senior secondary school will turn into a university soon.
Fr Ajith Menezes fondly remembered the founder Late Fr B L D’Souza and held high esteem towards the present manager Fr J P Tauro for accomplishing the tasks of bringing up the illustrious institution. He also thanked the benefactors, parishioners and the staff for the dedicated services and supports.
The KG and primary section staff co-ordinators presented the activity report for the year 2009-10. The cultural programme consisted of school orchestra, songs and skit. The skit ‘A Beautiful World’ presented by the KG students and primary section brought out the theme, If there is unity, world can be green and beautiful.
Shanthi Menezes, staffcCo-ordinator proposed the vote of thanks. The programme compered by students Arjun Pilikudale and Ananya Rao, both from standard V. The day concluded with school anthem.
