Margoa: Carmelite Provincial Releases Jinnechi Vatt, Book on Value Education

Margoa, Dec 21: Fr Archibald Gonsalves, provincial, Karnataka-Goa Province of the Order of Discalced Carmelites released a Konkani book on value education, Jinnechi Vatt at the Carmelite Monastery here, recently.

Children of Lar De Santa Terezinha invoked God’s blessing through prayer song. Fr Provincial while congratulating his own friar for bringing out the right book at right time expressed happiness over the work of Br John Malvino. He appealed the readers and Konkani lovers to read what is more valuable.



“There is a need of standardization in Konkani,” said Prof Balchandra Gaonkar, head of the department of Konkani, Rosary College, Navelim. He recalled the efforts made by late Felicio Cardozo and Fr Freddy J Da Costa for maintaining the richness in the language and appreciated Bro John M. Alfonso for maintaining the same richness and standard in the book, Jinnechi Vatt.

“We are becoming polluted along with the environmental pollution and failed to see our own weaknesses,” he said and lauded the efforts and courage of Bro Alfonso for preparing the readers to walk in the right path and live a happy life.

Fr Anthony D’Souza, superior, Carmelite Monastery welcomed the gathering and introduced the guest. Guadalupe Dias, Konkani writer compered the programme. John M Alfonso proposed the vote of thanks. 

About the Book and Author

Jinnechi Vatt, a book written by John M Alfonso and published by Carmelite Monastery is available in all leading stalls of Goa and Mumbai. John M Alfonso hails from Loliem, Canacona. He is a member of Kanataka-Goa province of the Order of the Discalced Carmelites, pursuing his Theological studies at St Joseph’s Seminary at Mangalore. He contributes articles to most of the Konkani magazines. He published his first book, Sukhi Jinn in 2006.
