Mangaluru: Milagres College takes on initiative to serve humanity

Media Release

Mangaluru, Apr 21: Concern for the needy is a virtue that emanates from deep within the heart. Milagres College has been at the service of the needy and the neglected right from the lockdown announcement. Lecturers and students are informed of their efforts to help the needy and they inform the college authorities as to who would be the beneficiaries. Accordingly, a group of staff headed by the principal reach the homes of these people and help them at their doorstep.

As part of this ongoing process, April 20 the volunteers' team consisting of the NSS programme officer, Denzil Pinto and the president of the Youth Red Cross Joel Pereira, Denzil D’Costa, the head of the department of Hospitality Science, the principal Fr Michael Santhumayor and others on Tuesday distributed food and grocery kits worth Rs 1200 each to 52 families in Kuthar, Ranipura. Each kit consisted of 10 kg rice, 1 kg each of sugar, dhal, atta and sooji, 1 kg cooking oil along with potato, onions, chilli, ginger, garlic, tea powder, salt and sambhar powder.

Milagres College thus carries out its social commitment through the network of management, staff, parents, students and generous donors. They carry the cherished record of the large-heartedness of John Errol Samuel whose generosity would never be forgotten in their effort to reach out to the needy.
