Bangalore, Dec 19: Relating to the case of furnishing fake documents to the bank relating to his real estate deals, the state High Court (HC) has permitted Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to hold investigation against former minister, Krishnaiah Shetty.
A division bench presided by Justice Subhas B Adi, which took up an appeal preferred by the CBI against the stay order earlier issued by the High Court, passed this direction on Thursday December 17.
A single judge bench of the High Court, which had considered a petition filed by Shetty, seeking to dismiss a case registered by CBI against him, had issued a stay order against the investigation during April this year.
In partial modification of the earlier order, the division bench, while vacating the stay, restrained CBI from arresting Shetty. It said that the CBI can continue to investigate the case, and that the former minister has to extend cooperation to the CBI for the same. It has sought a report on the investigation to be tabled before it on February 3.
