Karkala, Apr 16: The borders of Udupi district are completely sealed since some days to contain the Covid-19 pandemic that the whole world is facing at the moment. As a heightened measure of this step, all outstation vehicles are being strictly checked at Belman check post to prevent the entry of people from coronavirus hotspot districts to Udupi.
Except for emergency and medical related issues, the vehicles are allowed to enter the district. All other vehicles are being sent back.
The health department personnel stationed at the check post are checking the health condition of passengers arriving in vehicles of outstation districts and states and they are being sent back. On Wednesday, April 15, six people tried to escape Udupi borders by tanker in order to go to Bijapur. However, the alert police and health personnel sent them back to Mangaluru after checking their health.
Anyone who breaks the rule and enters the border of the district, is put under home quarantine. Recently a Jammu resident was caught during checking at Belman check post. He is kept in home quarantine at SBC college of the taluk.
