Mangaluru, Apr 13: Fishing activities began in the district on Monday, April 13. Fishermen sold fish at beach near Baikampady and Meenakaliya vicinity also.
DC Sindhu B Rupesh on Sunday, April 12, had talks with leaders of fishermen community at the DC office in city in the wake of beginning of traditional fishing activities.
Speaking with the leaders, DC Sindhu said, "Traditional fishermen have to follow all the instructions given by the government. Social distancing needs to be maintained at the spot of buying fish."
The DC also asked the Coastal protection police to keep track on this.
"Fishermen cannot sell their cache in retail. They have to bring the boats to the designated auctioning spots and sell them to only specified buyers," said DC Sidhu.
ADC Roopa, DCPs Arunamshu Giri, Laxmi Ganesh, AC Madan, DHO Dr Ramachandra Bayari, deputy director of fisheries Harisha and leaders of fishermen were present.
It was decided to sell fish at 11 spots in the districts. They are Baikampady, Guddakopla, Mukka, Sasihitlu, Sultan Batheri, Hoige Bazar, Ullal Kodi, Kotepura, Mogaveerapatna, Ullal and Someshwara.
