Kundapur, Apr 11: More than 300 daily wage workers in Mogebattu, Beloor gram panchayat limits and other places who had been affected adversely due to the ongoing lockdown were provided with free meals under the directions of Mahatma Gandhi Seva Trust, Gaurigadde Avadhoot Vinay Gurooji under the leadership of BJP state secretary Dr Beloor Raghavendra Shetty and with the help of Beloor Delattu youth. Free meals were distributed for the past sixteen days. Meanwhile, minister for muzrai department, fisheries, ports and inland transport, govt of Karnataka, Kota Srinivas Srinivas Poojary paid a visit to the places on Saturday, April 11.
Speaking to the reporters during the visit Poojary said that the disastrous coronavirus had spread throughout the world.
"There is no need for anyone to accept defeat against it. We should sit at home and fight against it. The government is effectively solving the problems. Groups and associations are identifying poor workers in certain places who have turned jobless and distributing essential kits to them. They are also distributing food in other places in need. The work is commendable. Providing food in Beloor village area with the inspiration of Mahatma Gandhi Seva Trust and wiping the tears of the poor is praiseworthy,” he said.
Noting the absence of the district in charge in Udupi, he said that in ministers in charge of various districts are working united under the guidance of the chief minister BS Yediyurappa. “I am working in Udupi where I reside as well as Dakshina Kannada district as the district in charge. The home minister had spoken to deputy commissioner and other department officials on video call. Together it is necessary to unite and fight,” he said.
Speaking about lathicharge in Kundapur, he said that lathicharge would be done only if people violated rules and could not be controlled. It is essential to first understand the cause why people would venture out.
Poojary said, “We should first know why people come out of their houses. What is the fate of the common man if lathicharge is the only answer? I will ask not to make use of lathicharge,” he said.
“The government has also made provision for distribution of ration to those who do not possess BPL cards," Poojary said asserting provisions for all.
"Country boats will be allowed to go for fishing on the 15th of this month. The government will ensure that fish is sold in particular places in disciplined manner,” he said.
More than 300 labourers who were present expressed their joy at the minister's arrival. They expressed their displeasure that their gram panchayat limits had not received benefits from the government and the minister had not visited their panchayats yet.
The minister had food with the labourers and expressed his humility.
BJP state secretary Dr Beloor Raghavendra Shetty Delattu, his friends Nithyananda Kotary, Dayananda Kotary and Mahendra Mogaveera were also present.
