Udupi, Apr 10: Adani Foundation, a CSR wing of Adani group, extended support to Udupi District Working Journalists Association by providing relief kits worth Rs 2.50 lac to 150 freelance journalists in the district. The relief kits were symbolically distributed by Kishore Alva, president of Adani Group to the Journalists Association at the Press Club here.
Based on a request by the Journalists Association, UPCL, jointly with Adani Foundation handed over relief kits comprising of rice, wheat flour, cooking oil, daal, washing soap and PPEs like masks and sanitizers to the association for distributing to the journalists in distressful conditions because of Covid-19 national lockdown.
While handing over the relief kits, Alva informed that both print and electronic media play a vital role in creating awareness to the public on the pandemic corona and are supporting the government in fighting against the globally spreading virus. He applauded the services of the journalists for their round the clock dedication in the field and delivering to the citizens updates on covid-19 from all over the world. He also informed that media had a key role in carrying the prime minister’s address to the nation to maintain social distance and absorb the nation's lockdown to curb the spread of corona. "It is worth distributing relief kits to the journalists who are striving hard to curb the pandemic," Alva added.
Ganesh Prasad Pandelu, president of Udupi District Working Journalists Association spoke and thanked Adani Foundation for their initiation in extending support to the journalists.
Santosh Saralebettu, general secretary, Ramachandra Achar, Rajesh, Uday Kumar Shetty, vice-presidents, Diwakar, treasurer, Michael Rodrigues, joint secretary, Balakrishna Poojary and other members of the Udupi District Working Journalists Association, Girish Navada, AGM and Ravi R Jere, senior manager of Adani UPCL were present on the occasion.
