Panaji, Dec 10: The Navy Week celebrations will culminate with the performance by the Naval Central Symphonic Orchestra at the Kala Academy on 12 and 13 December. The Honourable Chief Minister of Goa will be the Chief Guest on 12 December and His Excellency the Governor of Goa will be the Chief Guest on 13 December.
The origin of the Naval Symphonic Orchestra dates back to 1945 when it was formed with a handful of Naval musicians. It has come a long way since then and has regaled audiences across the country and around the globe – during overseas deployment of naval ships. Of special distinction have been the international performances during the Queen’s Coronation in the UK, EXPO-70 in Japan, the Bicentenary celebrations of the Statue of Liberty and the President’s Fleet Review in the USA, the Australian Bicentennial celebration, and the International Music Festival in France.
Versatility is the hallmark of the Indian Naval Symphonic Orchestra. Its wide ranging repertoire includes stirring martial music, arrangement of symphonies, concertos, Indian Classical and other forms of contemporary Pop and folk music.
The Naval Symphonic Orchestra will perform at the Kala Academy at 1800 hrs on 12 &13 December. The admission to the show is strictly by passes which will be issued on first come first serve basis. Music lovers interested in attending this unique concert may collect the free passes at the reception desk of the Kala Academy on 10 & 11 December from 1000 hrs to1530 hrs. You would require to be formally dressed. Children below 12 are not permitted. Handbags are not permitted.
