Kundapur, Apr 6: A team of officials belonging to legal metrology department registered a case against a medical shop from the town after finding that the shop was selling face masks at a premium.
The central government has a fixed rate of Rs 16 per piece for 3-ply face masks. The shop was found to be charging Rs 20 per piece. The team of assistant controller of the department Gajendra, inspector Ragya Nayak, and other staff conducted this operation. The team collected a fine of Rs 5,000 from the medical shop.
During the inspection of vegetables, provision and meat shops, the team found that many vegetable shops had not displayed their rate lists. All the vegetables shops were told about the deputy commissioner's instructions to display rate list.
Assistant controller Gajendra, warned that people selling masks and sanitizers at more that maximum selling price at this time of health emergency would be acted against strictly.
