Bagalkot: Villagers turn anger against Tablighi participants towards Muslim men

Daijiworld Media Network - Bagalkot (SP)

Bagalkot, Apr 6: On account of people who participated in a programme organized by Tablighi Jamaat at Nizamuddin in Delhi, coronavirus is fast proliferating in the country. This has given rise to a sense of dismay and anger among the general public, not only on account of the fact that coronavirus risk has turned grave, but also with the knowledge that participants of the said religious convention have not been very cooperative in tackling the disease.

A crowd attacked three Muslim men at Bidari village in Mudhol taluk, Bagalkot district. The three men belong to Mahalingapura village in Rabakavi-Banahatti taluk. It is said that they were stopped on the road and attacked with sticks. The attackers accused them of being responsible for the spread of coronavirus infection and questioned them about the purpose of visiting their village. They also derided the trio with filthy words, it is said.

After the three men requested to be set free and promised not to visit the village of the attackers again, the villagers allowed them to go with a warning not to return. This incident happened within the limits of Mudhol police station.

Reports say that coronavirus has claimed lives of 27 persons during the last 24 hours and the number of coronavirus-related deaths has crossed a hundred. On Sunday, 12 more deaths have happened. The total coronavirus-affected persons in the country has crossed 4000 mark. The number of coronavirus-infected persons has risen to around 4,000 now from 2,000 as on April 1. Participants of Tablighi Jamaat programme have been the main contributors to this sudden spurt and they account for 30 percent of cases. If the disease spreads at this speed, the country may witness doubling of the cases in just seven days, experts believe.

Prevention is better than cure. Villagers took the preventive measures without creating problems for administration.

I think the PM should call for a total shut down for 2 weeks, but before that he should make aware in advance to people with all means. The country should be posted by the military personals but not cops.

This is unjust! Just because a group from their religion indulged in a mass congregation & supposedly spread the CORONA throughout the world, attacking some people not connected in anyway with the controversial congregation is just highhandedness & use of might against the powerless! If this animosity is propagated further, we will have unrest even if we take out CORONA! Sad to see this day in a secular country!!!

Let us not take this lightly. Whether we have friends or we have strangers visiting , we need to be aware that these people have been posting videos and also avoiding quarantine. That speaks for itself .

They didn't cooperate because of fear. Even if they did that they would still be targeted. Lose lose situation for them.

For an offense committed somewhere by a group of some community, how do you think assaulting a group of people from same community who have no connection with the offensive group is justified in any way?

These are the socio economic effects of CORONA which are slowly raising their head!

Recently there was news that a housewife refused to take her husband inside the house fearing CORONA! Such is the fear of panic spread that people are developing phobia on hearing about CORONA!

Non-cooperation from some individuals of a community at a time when nation should be united to fight creates problems and gives bad name to the whole community. Having said this, communally targeting like this is not justified.

The whole of India. ..One Rule.
    For these people.....Another.
How long can this go on ???
These people better fall in line for their own good and their kith and kin.Their leaders are safe in their bungalows.
These people better understand and be isolated now.Otherwise society will banish them forever.
    God bless all.
