Mangaluru, Apr 5: With a strict lockdown imposed over the spread of novel coronavirus, Palm Sunday was observed within closed doors in the city.

Churches across the city wore a deserted look as faithful remained in their homes. Church services have been suspended till April 14.

Palm Sunday marks the beginning of the Holy Week for the Christian community. The Week culminates with Easter Sunday.

However, the Palm Sunday service was available online and livestreamed.

Bishop Dr Peter Paul Saldanha conducted the Palm Sunday Mass at Rosario Cathedral, which was beamed live on daijiworld website as well as Daijiworld Television.

Konkani Mass offered by Fr Abraham D'Souza at Divine Call Centre, Mulky is also being webcast on daijiworld from 10.30 am.

At 5 pm, Mass led by Udupi bishop Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo will be webcast on daijiworld website and telecast on Daijiworld Television.

The Palm Sunday service is to commemorate Jesus Christ's entry into Jerusalem, when palm branches were laid out on his path, before his arrest and crucifixion on Good Friday.

This event is usually enacted in several places on the roads, when devotees with freshly cut coconut leaves in hands walk saying prayers and singing hymns. However, this year, the public rituals had to be cancelled in the wake of the lockdown.

    You are wrong here.
Christ is present in the Eucharist kept inside Tabernacle of the Church in Body, Spirit and Divinity.
That is whole difference it makes for a Catholic church.
If Catholics dont have that basic faith, Christ will not have his faith in those who dont.

St. Clare of Assisi is the Patroness of the Online Feed/Live/Telecast and Television.
She has been named as the Patroness Saint for Television, by Pope Pius XII, in 1958 when the first Television channel beaming.
St Clare could not attend Mass during her sickness prior to her death. While she had longing for attending the Mass, Jesus showed her the Mass being celebrated at her convent and she was although she was not physically present there, she watched it wholly.
Hence the Catholics although dont get golden blessings, they get silver blessings. Same as Spiritual Communion while watching televised Mass.

As all Catholics and Christians comment, Holy week is the most important week in the lives of faithful. This is the first time I am at home celebrating each day devotionally by par-taking in the holy celebrations telecast through digital media. We had the opportunity to celebrate mass by accessing the website from US, the celebrant was a Bishop. We loved the solemn celebration of Urbi et Orbi blessing. Amazing devotion and the message. We continue to par-take in mass every day leading to Easter. I have faith in my Lord that he will feel the pain of this world and the plague will be eliminated with his resurrection on coming Sunday. Let us offer our prayers everyday for Corona virus patients, the frontline workers - doctors, nurses, emergency personnel, paramedics, fire brigade, police and government officials to make right decisions to save peoples lives. The church is always in the forefront in serving of humanity and today by shutting the doors for faithful, once again, they ensured the faithful are safe based on the direction of governments order. May God bless us all and save our country.

May be God is giving us a sign to put breaks on today's fast mechanical life and ponder for a while what life is worth? well at least 60 percent of worlds population realised that we can live as better humans , and earth a better place to live

The Saturday before the jantha curfew I had been to a monastery for mass where they had shut the doors and mass was celebrated secretly for the religious inmates. I went sitting at the entrance... That's when I remembered the revelation from the Bible" there will be famine for the word of God and not food during the end times". So we should treasure the word of God in our hearts like how Mother Mary treasured Jesus memories and his preachings in her heart... God is preparing us for the future, for the end times.

Please do not talk about end times; all previous doomsday prophecies have been hogwash; somewhere some tribe of people will survive & the human race will continue, we won't be there!

All this pestilence has been caused by human greed, ego, & selfishness! Man thinks, no other being has the right to live except himself; in reality its the opposite; if only bees were to become extinct, human race will vanish in 5 years; but, if humans become extinct, the whole of nature will prosper!

Universal Creator is all inclusive, not exclusive; he treats all of his creations equally, never discriminates!

Foodgrains, fruits, milk are in abundance; but, because of improper coordination between the various states and departments, tonnes of perishable items,10s of 1000s litres of milk are getting wasted because of improper planning!

    This is man made famine!!

Almost entire production of grapes & mangoes in the hub of their growing are getting wasted! Farmers are facing heavy losses!
We ourselves are responsible for the state we are in, WHY bring the UNIVERSAL CREATOR in between!

God The Father on 'quarantined' and not to take foolish risks...

    Message to Maureen

    March 22, 2020
    Public

Once again, I (Maureen) see a Great Flame that I have come to know as the Heart of God the Father. He says: "Children, these times when you are 'quarantined' you fear for your well-being - even your life. It is comparable to when My Son's Apostles were secluded after He ascended into Heaven. They too feared for their lives, but remained united in prayer. The Holy Mother* stayed with them - encouraging them to be resolute in their purpose until the time was right for them to go out into the public."

"The Holy Mother is with all of you today, helping you to understand the necessity of your confinement. If you pray, this trial will be more palatable. You will be able to use this time to your advantage and to be united in the Truth. You will be given the grace not to take foolish risks. Use the Apostles as your holy example. Remain united in the Truth - the Truth being - your actions affect many others, as well as, yourself."

No issues if Churches are deserted. As we start the Holy Week with Palm Sunday, the Lord shall see us through. We are not called to barely get by, but to thrive. Churches are not buildings but the people. Where two or three gather in my name , I am there Jesus said. Being at our homes we are praying that this pandemic is over. No more sickness and pain will ever enter our land. We believe for total healing and restoration. Our country shall be blessed. According to the Jewish Calendar this is the first month Nissan and we mark Passover and Good Friday in a few days. This shall pass away and celebration of God's grace and finished work of Christ will remain forever. Stay Greatly Blessed, Highly Favored and Deeply Loved in Jesus.

If churches were open there wouldn't have been so many infection and death because of prayers of faithful. Chinese Communist knew, manage it after infecting themselves to a small city then spread it to Italy, who are currently left leaning, Effectively managed to close central and entire church, temples, mosques and got it spread it to rest of the world to gain financial supremacy and eying for world control. Most of the nations under recession now. World bank IMF mostly under their control and giving money to other countries for their agenda. Seems to be winning using a bio weapon. God also smart fixing other nations who are not trusting Him or praying and only money minded first then will fix Chinese, who want no God but Self God or money God.

Church buildings are deserted. Not faith. Since beginning of the month Church service available in ON LINE. Many years back I have seen numbers of Pataans stopping their vehicles at Road side / Hard shoulders of Highways and doing Namaaz in the evening.

Faith is more important than "Man made building"!!!

Yes, no lockdown can take our faith away from us. The online masses are really good and there is a wide choice too. We can concentrate well without any distraction around. Only receiving communion will be missing. Earlier I use to attend only once a week mass at church, but this lockdown has introduced me to these online masses. I plan to participate online remaining 6 days of a week online mass at home even after this lockdown period. May God bless us all!

Missing the Holy procession carried out every year along with the statue of Jesus carrying the cross followed by the sorrowing Mother Mary.Seventy years back these statues were donated by my grand father Late A.J.Lobo to Bejai church.Since then for the first time these statues are laid to rest. Dear Christians do not be disheartened. GOD HAS GIVEN US AN OPPORTUNITY to show our solidarity and Express our faith along with our love for the Nation.Exactly at 9pm let us hold palm/braches in one hand and lighted candles in another and sing the lenten hymns
Especially Lord of Mercy and compassion..........This is how we celebrate Palm Sunday during this crucial juncture of corona pandemic Stay Blessed.

    dear all,

This is an extraordinary moment in time that we are living in. For the first time in human history, churches across the world have been closed and we are confined to our homes. We are approaching the most sacred days of our spiritual journey – the Holy Week. This is when thousands gather in our churches and retreat centres. This year however what will resound will not be pealing of the church bells and the prayers of the faithful, but deafening echoes of silence. This however is not the silence of despair. In fact we are being ushered back into the depths of the earliest Christian experience. There were no churches yet. The Spirit of God had been poured out. The Church was poor and persecuted. The faithful gathered in houses and caves to listen to the apostles and their disciples and to experience the mysteries of salvation.

This year we are gathered in our homes. With the fabulous media of YouTube and television, Divine brings to your home the word of God and the sacred services of the Holy Week in the Passover Retreat starting on Palm Sunday and culminating with the Easter service.

The Passover Retreat which includes this year’s Holy Week sacred services

is available on Goodness TV, Divine TV and on the official Youtube Channel which is titled ‘Divine Retreat Centre Goodness TV

Palm Sunday commemorates the entrance of Jesus into Jerusalem
(Matthew 21:1–9), when palm branches were placed in his path, before his arrest on holy Thursday and his crucifixion on Good Friday.

It thus marks the beginning of Holy Week, the final week of Lent.

Yes it is true that this time churches deserted in most of the countries throughout globe due to current situation. But lord jesus christ is in our heart and we can celebrate the palm sunday mass through live streaming,.
