Mangaluru, Apr 3: Karnataka’s sole petroleum refinery, MRPL (Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd) kept its operations continued against all odds to serve the energy needs of the state and many pockets of southern India.
Supply of petrol and diesel is crucial not just to Karnataka, but also to many other parts of south India. On one hand there is need to comply with the lockdown order and ensure safety of the people. On the other hand, there is a need to supply fuel to ensure movement of trucks carrying essential goods and LPG to ensure that households are not affected.
During the period of lockdown, petrol and diesel are supplied to local depots/oil marketing companies and through pipeline to destinations in Hassan and Bengaluru in millions of litres per day to meet the administrative and transportation needs.
In the last seven days of the lockdown, the refinery consistently supplied LPG sufficient to fill nearly one million LPG cylinders namely 1,50,000 cylinders per day and a further 30 million litre diesel to ensure movement of vegetables, food grains and provisions.
MRPL as a company and its employees take this opportunity to serve the society around us and our nation with humility and pride.
MRPL provides 10,000 sanitizers to the district administration for the covid-19 fight.
MRPL continues to support Dakshina Kannada district administration with infrastructure and facilities from time to time. On March 31, MRPL procured and supplied 10,000 units of sanitizers for the use of various organs of the district administration.
