Mangaluru, Apr 1: At least ten people who participated in the religious convention organized with the participation of people from all over India and some from abroad, which had been organized between March 8 and 20 this year at Nizamuddin Markaz Masjid, Delhi, have died of coronavirus infection. It is suspected that several people from coastal Karnataka had participated in this programme, and at least some of them may be spreading this infection. As per the current information, at least 24 have been tested positive for this deadly disease.
It is said that four persons from Chemmbugudde and Pilar, Thokkottu here along with a couple had taken part in the said programme at Delhi. One person from Pilar and the other from Chembugude have been subjected to health check. Thokkottu mosque president clarified that none of them is the president of any mosque. One of them is said to be a lorry driver while the other owns a shop dealing in perfumes.

A team of heath department officials and police personnel from Ullal took the man from his house at Pilar to the hospital. It is learnt that his wife also participated in the said programme.
If the tests prove that he is infected, the department will keep the wife and ten children also under close observation. It is said that 45 persons from Karnataka had taken part in the above convention.
The district administration has already found that a person from Uppinangady had participated in the said programme at Delhi. The administration has asked those who participated in the Markaz meeting at Delhi from March 8 to 20 to call helpline 1077 or district health officer without fail, as this is very important.
The man from Uppinangady, who happens to be the leader of an organization, too had participated in the said programme. The authorities have taken steps to admit him into the hospital and subject him to tests. His family members would be quarantined if he tests positive for the presence of coronavirus.
