Bhatkal: Coronavirus suspect flees from hospital - Brought back by police

Bhatkal, Mar 30: A young man who was admitted into the taluk hospital in the form of coronavirus infection suspect, escaped from the hospital on Sunday, March 29 night. He had been admitted into the hospital on March 27.

It is said that a lady used to move around the hospital since Sunday morning. Reportedly, she took the youngster away in the guise of giving him food after entering his ward.

The man was admitted into the hospital on the basis of suspicion about the infection as he suffered from fever and pain in the throat. The police succeeded in finding out the whereabouts of the man, and the health department officials succeeded in convincing him to come back to the hospital.

It is said that the young man had not been in contact with anyone who returned from abroad recently or with coronavirus infection suspects. The doctors said he did not display authentic signs of coronavirus and he was quarantined as a measure of abundant precaution.

The youth had developed cold feet and reached his home. Bhatkal police who came to know of it visited his house and counselled with him in the presence of health officials. He was then brought back to the hospital. The news of his escape had made the people panicky but now they have heaved a sigh of relief.
