The Karnataka-Kerala border had been closed after several coronavirus cases were reported in Kasargod district. Coronavirus patients were being allegedly brought to Mangaluru for treatement, which led to the closure of the border. However, on Saturday March 29, the borders reopened after pressure from Kerala, but only for vehicles carrying essential commodities. The residents of Kasargod, who depend on Mangaluru hospitals for treatment, have also urged the Mangaluru district administration to keep the borders open.
