Panaji: Nikita D’Costa attends Doodle 4 Google - My India Awards Ceremony as Finalist

Panaji, Nov 30: Nikita D’Costa, daughter of Plastino and Savia D’Costa, of Benaulim Goa, schooling in Manovikas English Medium School, was recently named one of the finalist for the Doodle 4 Google - My India doodle designing competition.


 
The finalists were voted by a panel of judges which included renowned cartoonist, N Ponnappa, young internationally acclaimed artist Raghava K K, as well as faculty and students of the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad.
 
Nikita D’Costa, attended the awards ceremony held at the Taj Ambassador, New Delhi. Dennis Hwang the master doodler of Google who attended the awards ceremony conducted a brief workshop for the finalist of (Class 4 – 10) wherein he explained the history behind the creation of the doodles along with the Google founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page.

At this interactive workshop Dennis explained the thought process involved in each and every design of the doodle and also showed some of his doodle’s which were rejected by the Google founders. The finalists also got to understand how Google as a company was open to new ideas or suggestions and how Dennis designed or corrected some of his doodles based on the feedback he received from the users.
 
Nikita’s Doodle received tremendous response from the Google team since she created her doodle on Indian music and besides she was the only entry from Goa. Nikita received from the master doodler Dennis Hwang and Sailesh Rao, managing director of Google India her own Doodle4Google trophy, certificate and her own doodle designed T-shirt along with a goody bag.
