Mangaluru: 'Close shops failing to ensure social distance' - Ponnuraj

Mangaluru, Mar 28: COVID 19 nodal officer and Dakshina Kannada district in-charge secretary, V Ponnuraj, has instructed the officials to close down shops which fail to ensure that social distance is maintained.

He issued this instruction to health officials of the city corporation after visiting Central Market, Urwa Store Market, Suratkal Market and other strategic spots in the city. He noted that the efforts in keeping coronavirus at bay goes down the drain if social distancing is not enforced in markets.

He also held discussions with various officials including the deputy commissioner and collected information about quarantined people and other things.

He was accompanied by city corporation commissioner Shanadi Ajit Kumar Hegde, city corporation health officer Dr Manjayya Shetty, environment engineer Madhu Manohar, health inspector Arun, and others.

    But it's very harsh decisions to normal purchase of essentials. And it's seems a fully politised now. The needy not get essential and vegetable/fruits, I think in Mangalore no need of this type lockdown.Please do needful

    At our village in Thota bengre the ferry services to Bunder have been completely shut since last 2 days. Due to which some people here r unable to get medicines & vegetables & some essential items nfor their daily needs. There r some families here with senior citizens who having serious ailments & who require prescription medications. The only way to get the medicines here is from medical shops near State Bank area. But due the closure of ferry services here we are unable to get any medicines. Hence we request u to kindly resume the ferry services & allow us to get the atleast the needed medicines during the day time between 6AM to 12PM as was done earlier.
