Shivamogga: Home quarantined duo booked for violating norms

Shivamogga, Mar 26: Two persons from Maloor in Thirthahalli taluk had recently returned from a foreign country. They were asked to undergo mandatory home quarantine period and kept under observation. They reportedly violated the instructions, roamed outside and played cricket. Therefore, a case has been registered against them.

The two young men in question are from Maloor. They too had recently returned to India from Abu Dhabi. Instead of sticking by the home quarantine prescribed to them, they were moving around freely. As such, a case has been registered in Maloor police station.

The accused have been identified as Muhammed Suyab (30), son of Mastan Khan, and Muhammed Hussain Khan (28), son of Mastan Khan. Taluk health officer, Jagadeesh, and Thirthahalli police circle inspector, Ganeshappa, had visited their home to check whether they are following the home quarantine procedures. They found that the duo had gone out of their home, moved around and also played cricket.

People coming into India from COVID 19 - infected countries have to undergo compulsory home quarantine. A case also has been registered against Mastan Khan alias Baba Jan (65) and Khateeja Bi (56), parents of the two youths. The concerned have been booked under sections 188, 269, 269 and 271 of Indian Penal Code.
