Bengaluru, Mar 26: On the first day of the lockdown announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, March 25, the police had to wield their lathis to scare away people who were found to be roaming outside instead of remaining inside their homes, at various places.
Police personnel were seen using their sticks against the people at Belagavi, Chikkodi, Vajamangala in Mysuru, several places in Raichur, Tumakuru, Hubballi, Kundapur, Sirsi, Ramanagara.
The police had to use their lathis to regulate crowd that had assembled at Chitradurga market. They also had to use force in Madikeri, Virajpet and Somwarpet in Kodagu district to convince the people to stick to lockdown rules clamped on them. Similar incidents were witnessed in Chikkaballapur and Hospet.
