Mangaluru, Mar 24: In the midst of mounting tensions in the minds of the general public about coronavirus, some miscreants worked to complicate the matter by indulging in spreading misconception about the functioning of district government Wenlock Hospital here through misleading posts in social websites on Monday, March 23.
MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, was in New Delhi on Monday in view of the ongoing parliamentary session. On learning that the people in his Lok Sabha constituency, Dakshina Kannada, are concerned about the improper way in which coronavirus suspects are being treated in the district Wenlock Hospital, he immediately travelled to Bengaluru from New Delhi and reached here by road.
On his arrival here, Nalin directly went to Wenlock Hospital. He summoned deputy commissioner, district health officer, superintendent of the hospital and other officials to the spot and held consultation with them. Deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district Sindhu B Rupesh, who gave information to the MP, brought to his notice that a separate block has been set aside for treating people suspected to have contracted coronavirus infection. She told him that only one person in the district has so far been diagnosed as coronavirus positive and the other corona suspect has been kept under close observation. She said that the hospital has facility to keep about 200 coronavirus suspects in intensive care. So, she asserted that there is no reason for the people to become panicky.
Nalin Kumar Kateel, who also happens to be the state BJP president, by his swift action, removed the misconception people had about the functioning of the hospital. He has asked the people not to lend an ear to rumours and assured them that the district administrate, state, and the central government are totally committed to care for the health of the people. His visit here has brought curtains on the confusion created in the minds of the people by some miscreants.
