Mangaluru, Mar 22: Soon after the first coronavirus case was confirmed in Mangaluru, Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary urged people to take extra precaution and stay indoors.

Speaking to reporters here on Sunday March 22, Poojary said, "A total of 104 samples were sent to the lab, out of which one has tested positive. Another 15 reports are awaited.

"The person who tested positive is a youngster. The doctors have expressed confidence that he will recover," he added.

Urging people to take precautions against the pandemic, he said, "People should not assemble in groups. Everyone should stay indoors, and step out only if there is extreme necessity.

"If needed, we will take the help of police to ensure that people remain indoors," he warned.

"Those who have arrived from a foreign country must remain in home quarantine. If such people violate quarantine, a complaint should be filed with the police. The cops will ensure that they follow precautions," he added.

Mangaluru first coronavirus case was confirmed after a 22-year-old native of Bhatkal tested positive. He arrived from Dubai on March 19, and was screened at the Mangaluru International Airport. He is presently in the isolation ward at Wenlock hospital.

Dakshina Kannada along with eight other districts in the state will remain under lockdown till March 31, during which everything except essential services will remain closed. Bus service will also be stopped during this period.

The news that 100% of the Coronavirus cases so far are those returning from abroad and there has been no community transmission, it is shocking to read that some of the affected could escape during quarantine which shows that our security is working with lethargy even during such crisis.

The anti CAA protestors should have been taken in police vans and confined in a large field secured by barbed wires and vigilant security force and detained for two weeks and treated like third grade prisoners. Unless Modiji is firm and deals with it on hand, these Deshdrohis will keep pestering.

Today desperate citizens are rushing back home, do not reveal their affliction, at the airport, to avoid 14 days sanitation and then in the process, transmit the disease to their families, friends, relatives n general public, with impunity !! This is a serious criminal offence... they have to be prosecuted !!!

Now lockdowns will not work. The virus is all over the world. If a lockdown is lifted even after 2 months a infected person can bring the virus into the area again. Better to live with the virus. After infection less than 3 % die some experts believe that it is less than 1 % if asymptomatic cases are taken into account.Once a patient recovers he has immunity the new cases therefore come down. Most of the deaths in any viral infection are due to associated illnesses.Do not panic .Be Happy Be Healthy.

You have given very light picture. Please do not believe experts..
Only lucky people survive since there is no definite medicine..

India is not releasing number of critical ill patients, otherwise you can estimate future death rate.

Lockdown plays an important role to break the chain of transmissions and slow the spread of virus so that the hospitals are not overwhelmed.

If people don't stay at home and help themselves, others and the country, no one can save them because if number of cases go beyond the resources available it will be chaos.

Without doubt this is a very difficult time and each one of us should take social responsibility and accountability to help our nation to control and prevent this epidemic.
