Udupi, Mar 19: After a motor bike hit a lady who was creating Rangoli to tidy up the road on the occasion of the annual fair of the local temple, the bike rider lost his life. The incident happened on the night of Tuesday March 17 at Vaddarse in the taluk.

The victim of this accident was Udaya Poojary (40), a resident of Delattu in Beloor village.

The annual fair of Lord Mahalingeshwara temple was on at Vaddarse. During the procession carrying the Utasava Murthy of the temple, decorated platforms are created by devotees at frequent intervals on the route of the procession where the idol is installed and Arathi is performed. A local, Geetha Bhat, was drawing Rangoli on Kota-Bannadi district main road for one such platform when a motorbike moving towards Madhuvana from Kota hit her. Udaya Poojary fell to the road thereafter, and suffered serious injuries. He died when being moved to a hospital. Geetha too suffered grave injuries. She is being treated at KMC Hospital Manipal.

The victim of the accident was an entrepreneur. He is survived by wife, a son, and a daughter. A case relating to the accident was registered in Kota police station.
