Mangaluru, Mar 18: "After the presence of coronavirus was confirmed in a Kasargod youth who had recently returned from Dubai, all precautionary steps have been taken. The surveillance team at Kasargod has been keeping an eye on those who travelled by flight with him. Dakshina Kannada district administration too has been undertaking necessary measures," said Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner, Sindhu B Rupesh. She said that all the co-passengers of the youth including those from coastal Karnataka have been asked to undergo health checks.
The DC explained that the youth did not display any symptoms of the disease on his arrival at the airport here. "Two days after he reached his home, symptoms appeared. We have collected details from the district collector of Kasargod in this respect. All the passengers of the flight have been contacted and they have been advised to remain in isolation at their homes. Teams led by district health officials have been visiting houses of the passengers and conducting health checks," she explained.
She said that in tune with the central government instructions, passengers coming from UAE, Qatar, Oman, and Kuwait will be made to compulsorily stay inside their homes under medical surveillance for 14 days. In other cases, wherever deemed necessary, people will be kept under 14 days of medical supervision. She requested the passengers and their family members to cooperate with the officials.
In the meanwhile, the route map of the coronavirus-affected Dubai passenger has been released. He had left Dubai on the night of March 13 and reached Mangaluru airport at 5.2-0 am on March 14. He left in a private car with two others and got his blood tested in a private hospital at 7 am. At 8 am, he had tea in a canteen of another private hospital. He then came to the government hospital and provided his details. In the afternoon, he visited a house at Bevinje and reached his house at 1.30 pm. Thereafter he was under observation.
District collector of Kasargod, Dr D Sajith Babu, said that people who had come in contact with the person including those who had travelled in seats in his vicinity have been listed. He said that the person's father, canteen staff of a private hospital and another person with whom he had come in contact are under observation
