Bengaluru, Mar 17: On Monday, March 16, only advocates were allowed to enter the high court (HC). All cases other than emergent ones were adjourned. Government officials who were sitting idly in the court hall unnecessarily were also asked to go out.
The high court Chief Justice sent an advocate wearing a mask out, after finding that he had come in contact with a client who was coronavirus-affected. The advocate was asked not to come to the high court for 14 days period during which he should be under medical observation.
A senior advocate was placing arguments, duly wearing a mask. Noticing this the Chief Justice, A S Oka, questioned him the purpose of wearing the mask. The advocate said that his client who had come from Germany on March 14 had met him, and during the medical test, he was found to be displaying symptoms similar to coronavirus infection. "The doctors have asked me to be in isolation and under medical observation. As this case is urgent, I came here with a mask on," he explained.
The Chief Justice objected to his attending the court case, and asked him to go out. He said that his junior will handle this case. When the junior came forward, he asked him to advise his senior to be strictly under medical observance for 14 days. He also passed instructions making it mandatory for everyone entering the court to undergo thermal screening from Tuesday onward.
