Abu Dhabi, Mar 14: The UAE on Saturday, March 14, announced temporary suspension on issuance of all entry visas, starting March 17. However, this decision is not applicable to those who have got visas before the effective date.
A statement issued by Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship states that the move is taken by UAE authorities as a precautionary measure to contain the spread of Coronavirus. "The decision is in response to the World Health Organisation declaring the novel Coronavirus outbreak as a pandemic - which makes travel at this point dangerous," the statement read.
The Authority added that the decision is taken as part of UAE’s spirit of responsibility to combat the deadly virus. "The decision will be effective until countries of departure activate a mechanism for medical screening of passengers as an additional measure," reads the statement.
