Bengaluru, Mar 13: Women of Don Bosco Church recently got together to celebrate Women’s Day, here. The women of the parish and the four self-groups which were recently formed had a micro-level celebration of Women's Day.
"The women of the parish considered the day as a red-letter day which will go down in the annals of Don Bosco Church," said one of the women. They also put their heads together to involve in more activities and to help the needy and the poor in the locality.
Speaking on the occasion, Salma Taj, the president of Mahila Congress who was the chief guest of the day showered praises on Don Bosco Church for its service toward the empowerment of women. She urged the participants to make use of all the opportunities given by the parish clergy. She said it was a moment of pride for her to say that she was a product of Don Bosco and called on them to live up to the values that they believe in.
Fr Aloysius Santiago, parish priest, thanked the women for their yeoman services to the family and society and called upon them to meet once a month in the group, write the reports and collectively tap resources that are given by the government for minorities. This will help them to be able to generate some income for themselves to maintain a standard in the family.
Women's Day witnessed competitions such as cooking without fire and display of Rangoli. Christy thanked Ameli, Jayaceeli, Jerry and all the others who coordinated to make the day a memorable one. The Women's Day celebration which was the first of its kind in the parish ended with tea and snacks for all the participants. They did not forget to thank the Lord for His special blessings before they dispersed.
