Mangalore, Nov 15: Confraternity Sunday was celebrated at Our Lady of Mercy Parish, Fajir, on Sunday November 15.
The church is one of the ancient churches of Mangalore diocese and its history can be traced to 1841. The parish members reside in Fajir, Konaje, Harekala, Pavoor, and Boliyar gram panchayats.
Confraternity Sunday is celebrated on the Sunday that precedes the annual parish feast which falls this year on Wednesday November 18.
Fr Canute Tauro offered the Holy Mass along with Fajir parish priest Fr Stany Pereira.
The procession of Eucharist began at the end of the Holy Mass. The Eucharist was taken in procession in a special vehicle with hundreds of parishioners marching along with the musical band, choir, altar boys, and little children holding flowers.
The procession passed through the streets of Gram Chavadi and concluded in the church with Eucharistic blessings.
Hundreds of parishioners participated in the spiritual event. Special prayers were offered for the well-being of all people.
