New Delhi, Mar 11: Trouble shooter of Karnataka Congress, former minister D K Shivakumar was appointed as the new KPCC (Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee) president by the Congress high command. There were rumours making round in the political circles of the state about the possibility of naming him as the president of KPCC for quite some time. Eshwar Khandre, Satish Jarkiholi and Salim Ahmed are appointed as working presidents. MLC M Narayanswamy and MLA Ajay Singh will be the party's chief whips in the state legislative council and assembly.
Dinesh Gundu Rao had resigned for the position of KPCC president taking the moral responsibility after the humiliating defeat of the Congress party in the last Lok Sabha elections. Siddaramaiah too had offered his resignation for the post of leader of the Congress Legislative Party (CLP). But the high command did not accept the resignations of both.
Siddaramaiah tried his best to appoint his close aide M B Patil as the KPCC president. However, many other Congress leaders of the state were backing Shivakumar. Siddaramaiah had even met the high command many times and appealed to appoint M B Patil as the KPCC president.
Now, AICC has finally put all speculations to rest and appointed D K Shivakumar for the coveted post of KPCC president.
