Mangaluru: Srinivas College of Pharmacy organises two-day National Conference

Mangaluru, Mar 10: The Indian Pharmaceutical Association, DK district local branch, Mangaluru in association with Srinivas College of Pharmacy organised two-day National Conference on the theme 'Innovative Practices in Clinical Training and Patient Safety' on March 10-11.

The conference was inaugurated by Dr Banappa S Unger scientist - E deputy director ICMR-NITM, Belgaum on March 10. He advised the delegates to take up research in traditional medicine with due concern towards patient safety and get trained with innovative ideas. Later he delivered a talk on 'Drug Interaction.'

A book on the compilation of published research articles 2019 of Srinivas College of Pharmacy was released by chief guest Dr Banappa S Unger.

Dr AR Shabaraya principal, Srinivas College of Pharmacy and president, IPA, Mangaluru exhorted the participants to make use of the knowledge and information gained on patient safety practices.

The guest of honour, Dr Vrinda Bhat Kamath professor and head - Department of Forensic Medicine, Srinivas Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, Mukka, Surathkal called upon delegates to be skilled in dealing with patient safety and gave a talk on Innovative methods of clinical skill training. Resource persons Dr Sarath professor and HOD - Department of Respiratory Medicine, A J Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, Mangaluru, Dr Surulivel Rajan M associate professor - Department of Pharmacy Practice, Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, MAHE, Manipal.

Dr Satish S assistant professor and Shwetha N V Pharm D coordinators of the programme were present. Dr EVS Subrahmanyam professor Srinivas College of Pharmacy and vice-president IPA, Mangaluru welcomed the participants and introduced the guests.

The conference had oral and poster scientific sessions. More than 180 original scientific papers were presented in the poster scientific session. Apart from this, the conference also conducted a quiz and Patient Information Leaflet completion (PIL) on the topic of patient safety.

More than 250 delegates had participated in the conference. Architha, Agnes and Jewel anchored the programme. Rohan Shetty proposed the vote of thanks.
