Mangaluru, Mar 10: St Ann’s Teacher Training Institute, Mangaluru, a pioneer college which was started to cater to the educational needs of girls’ in the coastal region, celebrated the International Women’s Day-2020 in collaboration with the Centre for Legal Aid Extension, SDM Law College, Mangaluru here at the Institute. Addressing the students and faculty, the chief guest AG Shilpa, senior civil judge, member secretary District Legal Service Authority, Mangaluru invited students to have compassionate concern for the less privileged sections of the society, for, the justice that reaches them is like prayers that reach God.
A woman is like oxygen, she fills the oxygen in the house, “There should not be a gender-based difference, all are equal before the law” said Shilpa, who also spoke on different laws related to women.
Shubhalaxmi P assistant professor, SDM Law College, the resource person of the day, gave insightful information with regards to different laws that come to a women’s rescue in times of a violation of the law. She explained in detail the historical perspectives of constitutional laws. The audience benefitted much by the speakers and thereafter they clarified their queries.
Addressing the student body, president of the programme Sr M Shubha AC, principal of the Institute said that information gained on the day of woman’s day celebration was important for all, as future teachers.
Ashwin Cutinho and Geetha, final year LLB students of SDM Law College were present for the programme. Student teachers led the prayer, as Shaloola, the student president welcomed the gathering and Seema proposed the vote of thanks.
Veronica compeered the programme. The programme ended with the national anthem.
