Mangaluru, Mar 9: Dakshina Kannada Legal Forum Mangaluru will be inaugurated on March 12 at SDM Law College, informed advocate S P Chengappa.
Addressing media here on Monday, March 9, S P Chengappa said, "The main objective behind the forum will be to create awareness regarding equal justice and free legal aid to the poor and needy and also the Constitutional rights and duties of citizen. It will also promote recommend law reforms, conduct seminars, symposiums, and workshops, organise talk on the legal issues, topics by eminent jurist and experts.
"The forum will provide free legal aid to the poor and needy, will work towards making judicial system accessible to poor, downtrodden and under privileged, and will work towards educating poor children, school going children, college students regarding various laws and legal system.
“The forum will work for the legal rights of the HIV patients, physically handicapped, transgender, women and children, will create awareness among general public about our Constitutional and fundamental rights, duties and pro people policies of the government, and will create legal awareness amongst children, women, labourers, agriculturists about various laws enacted to fight against various evils of the society.
“Further, the forum will fight against corruption, maladministration, anti-people policies of the government, will promote social , cultural and sports activities amongst various group of society, will establish and organise taluk level committee, will take up awareness programmes against drug addiction and to conduct de-addiction camps and arrange rehabilitation camps. We will also demand to have a high court in Mangaluru as it going to be a Smart City,” he said.
