Bengaluru, Mar 9: The current government has kept up with the age-old tradition of withdrawing cases in which kits workers are involved. Through an order passed on March 5, the department of internal administration said that it has withdrawn 46 cases. Most of these cases pertain to protest against celebrating Tipu Jayanthi, and cases of vandalsim following the murder of Paresh Mesta at Kumta.
In many of the withdrawn cases, workers of BJP and Sangh Parivar were named as accused. Three of the cases pertain to pro-farmer agitation. A decision to withdraw the cases had been taken at the cabinet meeting held during the last month.
As many as 18 of these cases pertain to Kodagu district. Cases relating to incidents which happened when protesting against the killing of BJP worker Rudresh, and protests against celebrating Tipu Jayanthi in the city and Belagavi also are found in the list. Two cases relate to Hassan and two moe to Chitradurga. Cases relating to holding of protests against officials at Bankapur during encroachment clearance operation, cases of protests against accidents, cases about using loudspeakers without permission etc. Eleven persons who were accused of murder attempt against Muhmmed Haris in 2015 within the limits of Uppinangady police station too have been left off the hook. Deriding of officials with filthy words at the meeting at the deputy commissioner's office in 2014 on the issue of implementation of Kasturirangan committee report and assault also have been dropped by the government.
