Bengaluru, Mar 7: Capturing attendance via biometric is likely to be suspended in government as well as corporate and IT companies, as a precautionary to control spread of coronavirus.
Medical Education Minister Dr K Sudhakar told reporters on Saturday, that Additional Chief Secretary has spoken to IT companies on guidelines that need to be followed.
Asserting that government has taken all measures to control the spread of coronavirus, Sudhakar said, so far in Karnataka, not even one case has been identified.
Health department officials are spreading awareness in cities as well as villages. Committees headed by deputy commissioners have been formed in all districts. Precautionary advice has been issued. Private hospitals are also involved, he said.
Responding to a query on using N95 masks, the minister said that only who are tested positive are required to wear. However, not a single case has been reported in Karnataka so far. People can wear surgical masks that have three layers, especially when they have symptoms like cough, cold, fever, he said.
"There are 2500 beds kept ready as a precautionary in case if cases are reported," he informed.
