Mangaluru, Mar 3: Kavoor police, on Sunday March 1, arrested Muhammad Mustafa (22) from Moodushedde Pilikula after finding him selling ganja near the railway tracks at Padushedde Manjalpade. A scooter and 1.1 kg of ganja worth Rs 26,000 were seized from his possession.
During the police raid, Muhammed Rayif from Vamanjur, who was with Muhammad at the time, succeeded in escaping from the spot. On being produced in court, Muhammad was remanded to judicial custody for two weeks.
The incident came to the notice of the police when Kavoor police inspector Raghava Padil, was conducting vehicle inspection at Manjalpade.
The arrested accused already faces cases of ganja peddling in Ullal and Barke police staitons, consumption of ganja in Kavoor station, murder and murder attempt in Mangaluru rural stations. Rayif, who has escaped, is facing murder and murder attempt cases in a few police stations in the city.
