Bengaluru, Feb 29: "Rumours that the state government is going to forego the farmer loan waiver is being spread by opposition parties. Farmers should not pay heed to such false propaganda. Loans of all farmers, who provide suitable documents is going to be waived," said B S Yediyurappa, chief minister of the state.
It was being reported from the evening of Friday, February 28 that nearly 1.10 lac farmers, who have not submitted proper documents for waiver of loan will not get the benefit of loan waiver from the government as the state is facing financial crisis. The staff of finance ministry themselves had given this information.
As the news spread, former CM H D Kumaraswamy had taken the government to task through series of tweets. Responding to the tweets of Kumaraswamy, Yediyurappa gave clarification and asked the farmers not to panic or pay heed to false information.
In his tweet, Yediyurappa said, "Government will not allow any injustice to be meted out to the farmers of the state. The loans of all the farmers who are going to submit proper documents will be waived. There is no doubt in this. Our government is pro-farmer and do not pay heed to any false propaganda in this regard."
