Belagavi, Feb 27: A philanthropist had donated land to school 70 years ago. However, the son of the donor is now saying that the land on which the school is located is not the portion that was donated and has stopped the repair work of the school. As a result the students of the school are studying on the campus of the school, sitting on mud ground.
This incident is reported from Kemalapur village of Raibagha taluk of the district. This school which was established in 1951 has 109 students at present studying from first to seventh grade. There are seven rooms in the building and four of them are demolished in order to renovate them. However, Malliah Matapati, son of the donor, who donated the land to the school, is against the repairing and renovation.
Nirupadaiah, father of Malliah Matapati, had donated 10 gunte land for the construction of school in 1951. The school was running in a nice manner since 69 years. The roof and tiles of four rooms were removed in 2017 in order to repair and renovate a portion of the building. However, Malliah Matapati is not allowing the school administration to repair the same. The students of the school are sitting on ground on the campus of the school due to this reason.
It is said that the school has got three guntas of extra land and that is why Malliah is behaving in this manner. When Malliah was contacted, he says, "It is true that land was given for school. But the land that was donated for school is not the one on which the school is built. You check with the authorities for the proper piece of land that was donated to the school and build a new building. This school has encroached my land."
The teachers of the school are saying that the tahsildar of Raibagh has not resolved the issue since three years, though appeal is made to him. He has not shown any interest in the matter.
