Mangaluru Feb 26: Co-operation minister S T Somashekhar said there is need to amend Co-operative Act which will help the farmers and co-operative societies.
Addressing media here on Wednesday, February 26, Somashekar said, "I will soon call for a meeting with the MLAs and the officials with regard to problems in the co-operative sector. It has come to my notice that people have difficulties in availing facilities from the government, due to the guidelines issued by the government. There is a need to amend this act. Meeting with MLAs and officials will soon be conducted and discussed.”
I would also like to keep up to the demands of the people, with regard to problems of co-operative banks with union finance minister and cooperative affairs minister Nirmala Sitharaman, as there is demand in the tax exemption for co-operative banks, said S T Somashekar.
With regard to problems faced by traders to move to APMC yard at Baikampady, which is spacious and has adequate infrastructure, Somashekar said, "I will also conduct separate meeting with the MLAs to resolve the issue."
Mangaluru South MLA D Vedavyasa Kamath, Mangaluru North MLA Dr Y Bharath Shetty and others were present.
