Puttur, Feb 26: A thief, who entered a house located at the heart of Uppinangady town near here by removing some roof tiles, also accessed the key bunch which would have helped him to become richer. Instead of escaping with the booty, the thief fell asleep in the house and got caught after the family members woke in the morning.

The incident happened on Tuesday February 25 morning. The theft attempt happened at the residence of Sudarshan, who owns Darshan Enterprises at Uppinangady. The man, Anil Sahani, a resident of Bihar, scaled the roof of the 24-feet high single storey house, removed some tiles, and reached the ground floor. He sifted through the items on the TV stand in the hall and accessed the key bunch. He then went deep into slumber on the sofa located in the hall. He woke only at around 6 am on Tuesday when the house owner got up and charged at him with a stick.

Sudarshan is an ardent devotee and his lineage has been sincerely organizing worship of the family Daiva regularly. Sudarshan had checked that all the doors of the house were properly closed, before going to bed at 12.30 am on Tuesday. He got up in the morning and saw to his surprise that a stranger was sleeping in the hall. He checked the house again and found that the tiles of the house had been removed. After confirming that the sleeping man was a thief, he woke him up by hitting him with a stick and found that the man was holding the key bunch of his house.

The thief could have easily walked out of the house by sliding the bolt of the door from inside. Instead of stealing things and escaping to safety, he chose to sleep inside the house with the key bunch in hand. Surprised and astonished at this incident, Sudarshan said that theft at his residence was averted by the divine forces that are pleased at his family's devotion to them.
