Mangaluru, Feb 21: The Adrenaline Youth Festival for the first time inaugurated an Art exhibition – KRITI, an annual event of Father Muller Medical College.
World-renowned artist whose paintings and murals adorn houses of power and repute, Dr Akther Hussain, dean Yenepoya Dental College was the chief guest for the inaugural programme.
In his address, he profoundly congratulated the organizers for envisaging such an event and that art and culture were the means of passion to showcase oneself to the world. He remembered his days at St Aloysius when Fr Lawrence gave him the key to the museum to feel the art and sense the exhibits and books to relay its colours on canvas. This imprinted in him an artistic skill which even in his busy schedule never left his side.
Fr Richard A Coelho, director of Father Muller Charitable Institutions, in his presidential address essayed the humanist nature of an artist. The artist thinks, ponders, assimilates and puts forth the essence of life on paper, clay or stone. "Artists are calm, contemplating individuals possessing peaceful thoughts of their surroundings. I remember his popularity at the college elections during his college days where Akther as a senior never made anyone feel small."
He lauded the efforts of the Adrenaline organizers for setting up an art exhibition and Dr Erel for bringing something new to the campus.
Fr Ajith B Menezes, administrator FMMC, Dr J P Alva, dean FMMC, Prof Dr Erel Diaz, Prof Dr Suresh (HOD Radiology), Dr Lenon and D Mahesh were present on the podium. Dr Padmaja Udaykumar graced the event with the other staff and students. Shruthi compered the event.
