Udupi: Murder of woman at Nittur - Two arrested

Udupi, Feb 21: In connection with the case in which Malathi Kamath, who was living alone at Vishnumurthy Nagar, Nittur near here, was murdered and her belongings were robbed, the police have made two arrests.

The arrested people happen to be Anand (28) and Ashok from Belagavi district. A team led by polive circle inspector here, Manjunath, arrested them on February 18 and brought them here. The court remanded them to police custody for a week. They have been taken to Belagavi for detailed investigation.

The accused had murdered the 68-year-old woman by smothering her by pressing a pillow hard on her mouth on February 12. The police said that the duo had taken away ornaments and Rs 60,000 in cash from the woman's house after killing her.
