Udupi, Feb 21: Tanushree Pithrody (11) is known for holding Guinness World record in yoga. She has already set four records by performing different Yogasanas in a short time.
“While many children start to talk and walk at the age of three, Tanushree started to dance. She has given more than 390 stage performances so far. She has joined Bharathanatyam and is specialized in semi-classical and hip-hop styles as well. Apart from this, she is trained in Yakshagana and other cultural activities,” said Uday Kumar, father of Tanushree.
Uday Kumar was speaking at Udupi press club on Thursday February 20 and said, “Now she is preparing to enter her name in the Golden book of World record in 'Chakrasana race' to be held on Saturday February 22 at Udyavar gram panchayat ground at 4.30 pm.
Ashish made it into the Golden Book of World records last year by performing one of the toughest yoga postures 'Chakrasana race' in 3.34 sec. Now Tanushree is all set to break the previous record by performing the same posture in just three minutes.
She set her name in the Golden Book of world Records in 2017 by performing Neelarambha Poorna Chakrasana 19 times in one minute and entered the Guinness World Record in 2018 by performing one of the toughest yoga postures of full body revolution maintaining a chest stand position for 42 times in one minute. Later, she broke her own previous record the same year by performing the same posture by doing it 44 times in one minute.
Tanushree created two records at a time in 2019 in the Golden Book of World Records by performing the most number of rolls in a minute Dhanurdasana posture of 61 times and she has done 96 rolls in just 1.40 minutes. This event was held at St Cecily's school ground on February 23, 2019.
Tanushree participated in Yoga performance held in Italy in 2018. As many as 152 different organizations recognized and honoured her incredible achievements in the Yoga field.
Tanushree is the proud daughter of Uday Kumar and Sandhya. She studies in the sixth standard at St Cecily's Kannada Medium School in Udupi.
Tanushree is getting trained under yoga teacher Hariraj Kinnigoli and dance teacher Ramakrishna Kodancha for Bharathanatyam. Besides, she also gets trained in Yakshagana from teacher Adithya Ambalpady. Her parents and teachers support all her activities to explore her talents.
