Udupi, Feb 20: The prize distribution ceremony of 'Godali Sadagara', a crib photography competition organised on the occasion of Christmas, was held at Mother of Sorrows Church Hall here on Thursday, February 20. The contest was organised by Kishoo Enterprises, franchise of Daijiworld Media in Udupi along with Uzvaad Konkani fortnightly, Udupi.

Fr Royson Fernandes, editor, Uzvaad, Kishore Gonsalves, director, Daijiworld Group, Dr Christopher D’Souza, proprietor, D’Souza Cashews, D’Souza Furniture and Electronics, Sandra Jerome Britto and Kevin Rodrigues, manager operations, Daijiworld Udupi, were present on the occasion.

Fr Royson Fernandes, editor, Uzvaad, congratulated all the winners. Remembering his childhood days, he said his family united to create the crib. “Children from the neighbourhood also helped. But if we look at today’s generation, we can see that crib making has drastically reduced. Focus and concentration of today’s young generation is more on social media, games and mobile phones.

“This has affected the Christmas spirit. But still we have to keep the spirit alive. Crib making is remembering Christ. This is the motto behind the first crib which was created many years ago. During this time, Daijiworld Udupi team lead by Kishore Gonsalves and Kevin Rodrigues along with Uzvaad have given a reason to all of us to come together once again to prepare crib at our homes and church. In the entire crib ‘Jesus Christ’ is the centre of attraction and all come near to Jesus Christ.

“I congratulate all, especially those who have created creative cribs keeping today’s scenarios in mind,” he said.

“Bringing the entire Bethlehem city under one small place is a challenging task. After results are announced, we have got so many wishing messages, calls. All credits goes to the organisers of Daijiworld Udupi, Kishoo Enterprises and Uzvaad,” said one of the winners.

Roopa Mascarenhas, event co-coordinator welcomed the gathering. Wenilda D’Mello, admin, Daijiworld Udupi, proposed vote of thanks and compered the programme.

The contest was supported by GSJ Builders Santhekatte, S Nut Cashews, Udupi and Mangaluru, Souza Electronics and Furniture, Harsha, Tauro Refrigeration Servicing Centre, Alwyn Bakery, Saud Tours and Travels, Shirva, Jerome Sandra Britto and family.
