Bengaluru, Feb 20: Law and parliamentary affairs minister J C Madhuswamy, said that the government will file appeal against the decision of the high court to grant bail to 21 persons arrested in connection with December 19 disturbances at Mangaluru. He also took umbrage to the fact that the court had mentioned the a accused as innocents in its order, duly pointing out that courts do not have the power to take final stand on the accused in bail orders. "This is against Supreme Court order," he said, expressing displeasure at the fact that the high court had violated its jurisdiction in passing this order.

Madhuswamy was responding to former chief minister, Siddaramaiah’s comment that the high court had termed these 21 people as innocent and that the government had failed to provide evidences against the accused in the high court.

Home minister Basavaraj Bommai, said that the government has evidences to prove that the arrested persons and those killed were not innocent. Bommai also said that Nausheen, one of the deceased persons, was heading a crowd that tried to toss petrol bombs at the police station. The other deceased, Abdul Jaleel, was facing several cases, he pointed out. He also said that in very case of firing there are chances of innocents losing lives.
