Mangaluru, Feb 17: ICYM episcopal city deanery held 'Yuva Thalentan 2020' on Sunday, February 16, at 4:00 pm in Cascia Church hall.
The programme began with a prayer song led by the youths of the deanery. Melwyn and Anitha Coutinho were the chief guests for the programme along with Yuvaspoorthi Fr Ronald Prakash D'Souza, director, ICYM Central Council Mangaluru diocese, Fr Harold Mascarenhas, parish priest, St Rita Church Cascia, Fr Anil Pinto, director, ICYM episcopal city deanery, Leon Loyd Saldanha, president, Veena Vas, general secretary, Minol Braggs, public relations officer, ICYM Central Council Mangaluru diocese and ICYM episcopal city deanery representative from the diocese, Delitia Asumptha Pereira, president, Sonali Rodrigues, secretary, ICYM episcopal city deanery, Teena Pashao, convener, Yuva Thalentan - 2020, Glen Tauro, president, ICYM Cascia Unit, Jane Pinto, vice-president, Cascia Parish Pastoral Council were the dignitaries present on the dais.
Delitia Asumptha Pereira welcomed the guests and the gathering. The programme was inaugurated in a unique way by the dignitaries. Fr Ronald Prakash D'Souza and Fr Harold Mascarenhas in their message congratulated and wished good luck to all the youths. Viola D'Silva - immediate past president, ICYM episcopal city deanery introduced the judges Rynal Sequeira, Jonita Rasquinha, Snehith Lobo to the gathering. Units of ICYM episcopal city deanery actively participated in the competition. Leon Loyd Saldanha and Minol Braggs, Delitia Asumptha Pereira and Snehith Lobo entertained the audience with a song and dance. As a token of gratitude, mementoes were given to the judges and the chief guests by Fr Anil Pinto director, ICYM episcopal city deanery.
The valedictory programme commenced at 6:00 pm. Melwyn and Anitha Cutinho, chief guests of the programme along with Fr Harold Mascarenhas, parish priest, St Rita Church Cascia, Fr Kenneth Crasta, Fr Anil Pinto, director, Delitia Asumptha Pereira, president, ICYM episcopal city deanery, Teena Pashao, convener, Yuva Thalentan 2020 were the dignitaries present on the dais.
Fr Anil Pinto in his message congratulated all the youths for their active participation and thanked everyone for their support in making all the events successful. Dheeraj Lobo, sports secretary, ICYM episcopal city deanery announced the results of the competition. Prizes were distributed to the winner and runners up by Fr Harold Mascarenhas. Teena Pashao rendered the vote of thanks. Sanjay Dsouza, vice-president, ICYM episcopal city deanery compered the formal programme. Sonali Rodrigues, secretary, ICYM episcopal city deanery compered the valedictory programme. ICYM Bejai Unit bagged the winner’s trophy and ICYM Valencia Unit bagged the runners up trophy of YuvaThalentan – 2020. The programme concluded with the ICYM theme song.
