Byndoor, Feb 16: The man who had fallen down a 15-feet deep hole during the digging of a borewell has been rescued after a six-hour operation.
In an incident that occurred at Marvanthe near here on Sunday February 16, a man fell into a 15-feet deep hole as the land around the borewell that was being dug collapsed suddenly.
The man has been identified as Rohit, son of Subba Kharvi, a resident of Uppunda Fisheries Janata Colony.
A borewell was being dug at Maravanthe in order to use it with a handpump. Hence, a little wider than usual borewell was being dug. The pipes were being inserted inside this borewell.
When the work was in progress, Rohit, a labourer, who works in breakwater works of Maravanthe had come there to watch the operation.
While the work was in progress, unfortunately, the land around the borewell collapsed suddenly and Rohit, who lost balance slid down to a depth of 15 feet into the borewell.
Fire service personnel and doctors rushed to the spot and managed to rescue Rohit. He was then taken to hospital in Kundapur for medical treatment.
