Vijayapura, Feb 14: BJP MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal, called upon the people not to watch movies featuring heroes who are known to indulge in anti-national activities. Instead, he urged them to support movies in which patriots like Akshay Kumar have acted.
Speaking before watching Hindi movie, Tanhaji, near Apsara Talkies in the city, Yatnal said that there are films and leading actors who are fed by the country but they always get involved with treason. "There are a few true patriots like Akshay Kumar. There are villains who get their bread and butter from the country but then hail Pakistan. Khan and team who have come up in India and get their food here, give compensation when there is earthquake in Pakistan, but do nothing if earthquake happens here. Why do they not speak about Citizenship Amendment Act now?" he wanted to know.
He reasoned that the movie, Chhapaak, flopped because its heroine, Deepika Padukone, got associated with anti-CAA fight. "Our youth should develop an attitude against watching films featuring such people. Such film heroes should not become our ideals. Soldiers and policemen who lose their lives in protecting the country should be our heroes. Bhagath Singh and Chandrashekhar Azad should be our ideals, not Khans," Yatnal thundered.
Referring to the BJP legislature party meeting being held on Sunday, he said he too has got SMS. He agreed that for the first time, a legislature party meeting has been convened officially. "We will discuss about our demands at the meeting. We have not sought ministerial berths. We want the government to provide people-friendly governance. Let them sanction grants for development, and let the government be liberal in giving grants to north Karnataka. I will place these demands at the meeting. The meeting may not witness too many discussions. Therefore, we will press for a detailed legislature party meeting during the budget session," he said.
Responding to the demand made by Koodala Sangama Lingayat Panchamasali Peeta's Jagadguru Sri Basavajaya Mrutyunjaya Swamiji seeking two ministerial positions or the post of the chief minister to a person from Panchamasali community, Yatnal said that there is no need to beg for it and that he and other leaders know how to exercise right over these posts.
