Mangaluru, Feb 12: Gaurav from Kumpala, working for a cruise ship and was stranded at Hong Kong because of concerns of Coronavirus infection, has finally reached his home. He reached his home at Kumpala, Ullal, on the evening of Tuesday February 11.
The ship for which Gaurav works which set sail from China had completed its tour to Taiwan and had returned to Hong Kong. In the interests of safety because of Coronavirus scare, the passengers and crew of the ship were withheld in the ship. His marriage, which was to be solemnized on Monday, had to be postponed because of uncertainty relating to his return. After safety tests were performed, arrangement was made to send tourists who were confined in the ship to their respective countries. Gaurav and other Indian crew member working for the ship were sent to their respective countries. However, staff of the ship hailing from China and some other countries has been retained at Hong Kong because of safety concerns.
World Dream cruise ship
Gaurav said that the chief of the cruiser in question, ‘World Dream' had taken very good care about the safety and health condition of the tourists. He said that the ship management supported him fully in the matter of his return to India. As flights to many countries from Hong Kong have been cancelled in view of the Coronavirus presence, the company took special care for ensuring protection of the staff. He said he and another staff of the ship were sent here on Monday via Mumbai. He said that new date of his marriage would be finalized in a couple of days, and that he will remain here till the issue is resolved. "Once I get a call from the company, I will return to work," he clarified.
