Mangaluru, Feb 12: District-in-charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary inaugurated newly constructed taluk panchayat office near Clock Tower in Hampankatta on Wednesday, Febrauary 12.
Addressing the gathering, Kota Srinivas Poojary said, "It was long pending demand to construct a new taluk panchayat office. Through zilla panchayat grant, we were able to construct the newly built taluk panchayat. During the meeting of taluk panchayat we have been discussed the requirements of taluk panchayat and worked accordingly by taking certain decisions. The gram sabhe need to be more effective so that problems and basic requirements of every village will be discussed to fulfill the demands of villages in providing basic facilities.”
MLA U T Khader said, "Today new taluk panchayat office has been inaugurated and everyone has strived hard to make his happen. Taluk panchayat is the mother of all gram panchayats as they need to work effectively with lot of responsibility.”
The newly constructed taluk panchayat was constructed at a cost of Rs 4.25 crore and foundation stone was laid in the year 2017 by the then district in charge minister B Ramanath Rai. The building has basement, ground plus two floors, with 300 seating capacity meeting hall.
Taluk panchayat president Mohammed Monu welcomed the gathering.
Mangaluru North MLA Dr Bharath Y Shetty, Mangaluru South MLA Vedavyasa Kamath, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLC Harish Kumar, Ivan D Souza, Taluk panchayath vice president Poornima Poojary and others were present.
